Oops! Totally forgot about this blog. lol
Hey there! I'm embarrassed to say it but I got so focused on other things that I totally forgot to write on here or that I even started this at all.
Last time I posted, I was super excited about signing up for a Rugged Maniac. Well the day came this past weekend for our race and it was awesome! The boo could've totally left me in the dust but instead he was a wonderful partner and kept me going and motivated the whole way through. I love him. Some of the obstacles were very easy and some of them were pretty hard but we made it through them all. Did we completely succeed on all of them? No. But that's alright. The only one we both totally failed at were the monkey bars. Again, he did better than I did but that's fine. It was a really rainy day and I slipped right off them bars. I do have to say that I'm proud of one of them though where you run and jump to grab a rope, slide over some water and hit a bell. This one I totally beat him at! haha The last obstacle included a halfpipe you had to run up, grab the top and pull yourself up. I couldn't pull myself up all the way but I did managed to grab the edge and hold on on the first try, which is much better than the last time I did one of these (I did a Tough Mudder a couple years back).
All in all, it was a great experience and we really enjoyed ourselves. The free stuff was pretty awesome too although we didn't like the beer at all. lol
I'd probably have to say that the worst part of it was the running. I was having a pretty hard time with it for a while and it made me so pessimistic and demotivated about going to the gym and working out that I decided to mostly stop with the running for a little while. Instead, I'm focusing more on my HIIT classes and strength training in general.
I hit a new max on deadlift that I'm pretty happy with: 245lbs. My goal is to be able to lift 300lbs by October, which is when I'll be going home to see my grandparents.
In two weeks, we'll be running another obstacle race! This one is called Terrain Racing and we'll be doing it with a whole team from the gym so that should be pretty fun too.
Well that's it for now. Gotta go to the gym! :)
